We then headed to our next destination in Newport at the Hallmark only to get a call from Alsea River Boarding Kennel who told us that the Fireside had called them (It was the Fireside clerk who initially suggested Alsea Kennel and it is where I told them our dogs were - when she called me a liar the first time!) to confirm that our dogs were indeed being boarded. After i insisted again our dogs were not with us and indicating to our car that clearly had no dogs in it, they did adjust the rate. She would have known if she saw me with our dogs which are clearly not 'pups'. Upon check out, I again mentioned we did not have our dogs and asked them to adjust the price ($60/day), at which time the desk clerk, responds 'DIDN'T I SEE YOU WITH A PUP?" basically calling me a liar. Upon arrival at the Fireside, my husband signed all the forms and then when I noticed there was doggie waivers, towels, etc., i explained to the clerk AGAIN, that we did not have our dogs with us at which time they said they would adjust the price at check out. We made accommodations for our dogs at Alsea River Boarding Kennels for the duration of our coast trip, because we were going to be going out on a chartered boat much of the time. The front desk clerk said just to let them know when we checked in and when i asked about local kennels she suggested Alsea River Boarding Kennel. When making our plans, we booked a doggie room indicating that we may or may not bring our dogs.
We have vacationed at the Fireside Motel and surrounding properties in Yachats for the last fifty years, and it saddens me to write this review.
